Which direction the water moves through the plasma membrane when the cell is surrounded by distilled water?
I am a IB student. This is the IB Bio HL. We made a laboratory in which we put under a microscope with a leaf of a plant elodea. Then, add the sugar and had to find out what happened. Then distilled water was used to wash glucose and had to watch what has past when distilled water is added. We repeated the experiment with sodium. I am not very good and biology and the question is in my lab. Any help would be appreciated.
The water will pass by osmosis. If the water volume is much larger than the volume of the plant cell cellitself were in the water until it presses against the wall.In cell of an animal cell with only a plasma membrane, Cell will explode.
