Question about two toddlers and one birthday?
I have two sons that are 3 and 2. My 3 year old is about to turn 4 next month. It seems like lately they argue and fight over EVERYTHING! I am thinking about what to get my 3 year old for his birthday but everything that I can think of I can already foresee a major fight coming. For instance if I buy the Tag reading system like I want to they are going to scream and fight over it and not take turns. I have never been in a situation like this since my oldest son and second son are seven years apart. I do not think that it is right to have to buy my 2 year old something for his brother's birthday and I know that he does not understand the whole "it is not yours it is your brother's toy" concept just yet especially since they always play together. And although we do not have two of everything they have a lot of the same interests and similar toys and quite honestly my 2 year old thinks he is as old as my 3 year old. Any suggestions?
want an honest answer? he can understand that it is not his its his brothers toys as long as you are on top of it and tell it to him every time, I have 3 yr old twins, they learned by the age of two that there were some toys that belonged to each of them, they still have their moments when they try to take each others toys, but I always remind them that it is the other persons toys not theirs, and try to direct them to one of their toys or toys they share, you need to just be firm with him and make sure the 3 yr old has his own little space for some of his toys and if the 2 yr old trys to fight over something that is the 3 yr olds you tell him no, that is his brothers toy... try to give him one of his toys and if he continues to fight or throw a tantrum put him in timeout, can tell you that you have to take control of the situation now or it will only get worse as time progresses, my twins just turned three and they know we dont touch things that are not ours, and we dont grab or take things from other people, we ask for it or wait our turn, if they fight over a toy or take each others toys they get timeout..good luck and be strong lol
